Summary:The curriculum introduces students to the basics of operations planning. Planning is the process that is aimed to influence the future by defining concrete targets, working out and modelling action plans to reach the goals that have been set. A strategic plan is developed to help the organization achieve its long-term vision. Conversely, operating plans involve the process of deciding what needs to be done to achieve the tactical objectives of the business. Operational planning is done to support strategic planning efforts. Scheduling deals with both time allocations and resource allocation for production of the required quantity. Operations’ planning is done as part of short-term planning. High level objective of operation’s planning is to decide the best way of allocation of labor and equipment as to find balance between time and the use of limited resources within the organization.
